This would seem simple enough, but sometimes when you’re too tired, it may be tempting to go to bed without brushing your teeth. However, it’s essential to make sure you brush your teeth in the morning and at night, to remove germs and plaque that build up both during the day and at night. 

2. Brush properly

When brushing your teeth, be sure to use circular motions. Be gentle and take your time so that you can properly remove plaque. Most dentists would agree you should brush your teeth for about two minutes. Use a fluoride toothpaste. Brushing properly is important to ensure you’re removing plaque that hardens and leads to gingivitis, or gum disease.

3. Don’t forget to floss

Although many of us brush regularly, we still forget to floss. It’s important to floss at least once a day, usually at night, to remove the food that gets stuck between your teeth. Flossing helps to stimulate your gums, reduce inflammation, and remove plaque from in-between your teeth.   

4. Eat less sugary and acidic foods

Sugars and starches that are left on your teeth through the course of the day are fed on by bacteria and converted to acid. This acid and any acid in your foods erode the enamel on your teeth, which leads to cavities and weaker teeth. While you can still eat these kinds of foods, you’ll want to limit them. 

5. Drink lots of water

Not only is water good for your overall health, but it can also help remove sugary and acidic foods from your teeth throughout the day, which helps prevent build-up.
